Coming to know about the chap with unique voice texture and funny gestures was a big item in itself.🤩 That was our very first night at Pratap House after admission at LNCPE in 1991. In late night our doors were banged, seniors asked all first year juniors to assemble in the common room immediately for the introduction. Clan, to which the Killer belong Introduction? We could immediately figure it out that Introduction was an acceptable respectful name given to the rituals which were known elsewhere as RAGGING . Unwillingly, looking each other's faces full of apprehensions, we made our way to the common room. In common room we were made to sit on ...

B'day wishesh to Superbly stylish rocking ANIL SAKRE

B'Day Boy
Superbly Stylish n Rocking
ANIL SAKRE, a deadly mix of  Bhopali chaat with Punjabi punch, the B'day boy, Another masterpiece amongst us as at any moment who could make the things go like a Bhopali or Punjabi way.

Sakre a perfectly popular and cutie pie item amongst girls and was a special item in demand among boys also, my football mate and darling of Prince n Tanwar.

Bhai Sakre wish you a very happy wala birthday. Hope you must be rocking hot in cold Canada also.

For a long time i remained confused with him as in beginning when he was so closely knitted with Prince that he would do everything Punjabi style, his talks, his walks, his dance, his preference for friends everything was clad in thick hard core Punjabi flavor, but very next moment he would make us laugh when he would throw dialogue in crude Bhopali style.

I first met Sakre closely with a big bang.
Everybody must be remembering in very beginning of first year we had arranged a friendly football match between sections A & B.

As Sonal Smita n Prema had pampered the section A team so well so our team was playing with such a high tempo that we were being tough nuts to be cracked for the section B team which was equipped with too solid mahabali players like Karbak, Mohanpal, Tanwar, Sukhen and Sakre.

In same game in last moment I got a through ball just on the right side edge of the penalty box, I made a desperate run towards the goal with Anil Sakre being only hurdle between me and the goal posts. In his desperate attempt to prevent me from progressing further towards goal he applied desperate tackle on me from the front. He rammed into me and I banged into him, both of us fell like a collapsed twin towers on the ground,

Anil made a severe painful cry holding his right knee, perhaps my knee had hit the inner side of his knee, and ball had got deflected away out of the ground. Sakre was in severe pain unable to move, players had huddled around him examining the injured site like a doctor. Finally with the support of his one leg on ground and two arms on shoulders of two players Anil left the ground. Game resumed but soon the final whistle was blown. Winning players of section B were hugging each other, losing players were analysing, cheerleaders were smiling and admiring the players.

We went to Anil who was, still in pain sitting on the ground but he was happily surrounded by girls near the corner behind the goal line, explaining the scene of collision to them, but naughty boys didn't fail to find an element of fun in that situation also.

My rascal witty Bengali hostelmate Swapan Basu, asked Anil naughtily, "you could've collided with a human being, but how could you afford to collide with an animal?",

"Bisht is a Beast, you should have taken care of yourself before colliding with a beast, now see yourself. Naughty Basu was  looking at me also, when he wittingly said that, he was also ready to runaway if in case I would react otherwise, but boys burst into laughter, Anil also smiled. Then Anil also started limping towards hostel collecting bagful of 'get well soon' wishes from girls.

The funniest part of memories connected with Sakre is that, whenever he would walk in group with boys or girls inside or outside the campus, suddenly he would stop and would ask everybody to stop as if there is something serious.

When everybody stop anxiously then Sakre would produce a sweet Farting sound from his ass and then he seriously would ask people to move  and everybody would burst into laughter.

He had done it so many times, and every time it was funnier than last time. He was so skillful in farting that he could produce the farting sound according to his will and according to the mood of the fellows walking along with him. We were thinking in complete amazement that, "Was Anil Sakre blessed with Mastery over Art of Fart." Best thing was that, he was very democratic in doing so as he never discriminated in doing so with group of girls or boys.

When kids come to LNCPE

I think Sakre was the boy with one of the best sense of dressing amongst us, he always dressed like a pro, he would always look ready for the party. Whether in class or mess or in hostel or even on ground he would remain very concious about his dressing. I never saw his casually dressed.
Sakre with Guru Mohanpal n Chauhan

During daily football match practice sessions also everyday he would come dressed differently as he had countless sets of football kits. He would comb his hair upwardly and would look quite close to Sanjay Manjrekar. By final year he had grown his hair so much that he started sporting a ponytail nicely intact with colourful rubber bands. A true stylist he was.

In very beginning when I saw Sakre in football class and I came to know that he is a defender then I saw him with some doubt as he was not with a big sized body or gastures. But when he started kitting up, in his all white kit he was looking like a professional. Then watching him playing in the left back position along side of the Prince, our left stopper, soon doubts of all were cleared as despite having an average structure he had a big temperament for big games. In a very tense situation also he would not lose his cool, a sign of a dependable defender.

When kids passout from LNCPE

Dear Sakre may you remain always blessed with your livily spirit and sense of humor. As we have spent so many lovely and ugly moments togather on and off the ground, so we have so much so common set of memories to cheer.
